“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”

Albert Einstein.

I am Andres Romero Castro, a simple guy who is absolutely thrilled by the prospect of learning something new every day. It doesn’t matter if I don’t know how to do it yet; the mere thought of acquiring a new skill or expanding my knowledge base fills me with excitement and wonder.

Even when the going gets tough, I don’t let that stop me. Instead, I channel that passion and determination into my efforts, knowing that with enough perseverance, I can achieve anything I set my mind to.

I am constantly seeking out new challenges and experiences, knowing that each one holds the potential for growth and self-discovery. Learning is not just a chore for me; it’s a true passion that drives me forward, fueling my desire to explore and discover all that the world has to offer.

I began my studies in law and international relations. But to me, having a practical experience and non-formal education alongside academia are essential, so I also started my working life and boosted my volunteering experience by participating in several Erasmus projects.

My career path started when I joined a technology company. I managed the content department for almost 2 years and took responsibility for the digital content and services that were offered in 70+ countries around the world. I also negotiated B2B agreements, managed projects and did research.

Later, I joined the most important law firm in Uruguay. For almost 5 years I was part of the contentious, corporate, and regulated industries departments; focused on telecommunication and data privacy. I am very proud of my successes there, such as creating a new archive system for a client that improved efficiency in how cases were processed by the law firm and designing a data privacy scheme that allowed a big client to be in compliance with data privacy law, getting the required legal authorization to maintain their core business in the country.

As Legal Adviser for the Telecommunication Chamber of Uruguay, I took a leading role in the regulation for telecommunication antennas and the parliamentary discussion of the data privacy law, where all the proposed modifications were adopted and approved as law. I am very honored for having achieved this in my career.

During my time as a co-anchor on a radio show, I had the opportunity to conduct interviews with a variety of interesting guests. It was always exciting to learn about their experiences and share their stories with our listeners. In addition to my interview duties, I also had my own segment each week where I shared my opinion on current events and relevant topics.

I also was a co-host on a radio show on Saturday nights, focused on entertainment and humor. It was a lot of fun to bring laughter and joy to our listeners and explore different ways to entertain them.

Being part of the radio industry was an amazing experience that taught me how to connect with people through the power of the spoken word.

I worked in real estate managing a new branch of the company; joined a digital agency in the commercial department, expanding the client portfolio and increasing earnings; worked as a journalist; and worked with refugees in 2015 during the migration crisis in Europe.

In my current role in the Consulate, I achieved a 100% success rate of case management during the covid-19 flight crises. Despite all limitations, all stranded passengers in our jurisdiction managed to get home safely.

Having worked in different sectors, I have developed a broad range of skills and experience that have led to my interest in several areas. Among these are project management, business analysis, process improvement, finance, and investing.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to manage a variety of projects, from small-scale initiatives to large-scale enterprise-wide programs.

I have enjoyed the challenge of planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. I find it fascinating how a well-managed project can lead to successful outcomes, while a poorly managed one can result in failure.

My experience has also taught me the importance of effective communication, team collaboration, and risk management in project success.

In addition to project management, I have a strong interest in business analysis and process improvement. I find it fascinating to understand how organizations operate and identify ways to optimize their processes and procedures.

Understanding business requirements, analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement are essential skills in today’s fast-paced business environment. Through my experience, I have come to appreciate the value of these skills in driving business growth and achieving strategic objectives.

Through my experience, I have learned how to analyze complex business problems, design solutions, and implement changes to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.

To me process improvement is very interesting. Whether it’s streamlining workflows, eliminating bottlenecks, or reducing costs, improving processes can have a significant impact on organizational efficiency and effectiveness. I enjoy identifying inefficiencies and developing solutions that improve business processes, leading to increased productivity and profitability.

Finally, I have developed an interest in finance and investing. Understanding financial statements, analyzing market trends, and making informed investment decisions are essential skills for any business professional. I have gained skills in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and investment analysis.

I find it exciting to follow market developments and identify opportunities to invest. I enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest trends in the financial markets, researching investment opportunities, and developing investment strategies that align with my risk tolerance and financial goals.

In conclusion, my diverse experience has led me to develop a keen interest in project management, business analysis, process improvement, finance, and investing. I am passionate about learning more and continuing to develop my skills in these areas.
